Alarm Troubleshooting Guide
Door Contact
-
Shows open when it is closed. Get a picture of the door contact that is having the problem. Here are the most likely causes
o Magnet missing
o Door contact missing
o Door contact not lined up properly with magnet
o Magnet too far from door contact
o Magnet may have become demagnetized by a metal door and needs a stronger magnet installed in it’s place
- Low battery / Loss of Supervision / Malfunction
o Battery needs replaced
§ If after battery is replaced it still says low battery even with new battery:
· Delete from current zone number and add it to a new zone number
- Tamper
o The Door contact cover wasn’t closed fully and the cover needs to be aligned and closed again. Possible damage where a tab on the cover was broken.
§ If making sure the cover is on correctly doesn’t solve the trouble. Deleting the sensor from the zone and learning it into a brand new zone may fix it.
Motion Detector
- Low battery / Loss of Supervision / Malfunction
o Battery needs replaced
§ If after battery is replaced it still says low battery even with new battery: Delete from current zone number and add it to a new zone number
- Tamper
o The motion wasn’t closed fully and needs to be closed and the set screw put back in again
§ If making sure the cover is on correctly doesn’t solve the trouble. Deleting the sensor from the zone and learning it into a brand new zone may fix it.
Alarm Panel
- Black Screen, wont respond to touch – most likely this is a firmware problem that “should” be fixed with a later firmware version.
o Power cycle the panel
o Update the firmware either OTA or with a usb for a GC3 panel
§ If panel does it again with a latest firmware then replace panel
- Power Loss – most likely the transformer has been unplugged
o Have them find the transformer and make sure it’s plugged into a working outlet
- Low battery – usually a 2GIG panel will show a system low battery because either the backup battery isn’t plugged in, or it was plugged in after the transformer was already plugged in
o Have the customer disconnect the transformer and open the panel and disconnect the back up battery. Then plug the back up battery back in and then the transformer
o The backup battery could be charging and just low because the power was out and the battery was drained and the low battery will go away once it is sufficiently charged.
